Casa Marijke is situated in a rural area of the Eastern Algarve and is only 2kms from both Fuseta and Moncarapacho. It’s 800m from the main road (N125); far enough not to be disturbed by traffic noise. Casa Marijke is easily reachable by a tarmac road. Our spacious garden, which has around 50 orange and mandarin trees and lots of shaded spots, is the perfect place to relax. Also, our water reservoir can be used as a swimming pool (see picture).
The nearest beach (see picture) is 2kms away, in Fuseta. From there, and from Olhão and Tavira as well, you can go by boat to the islands that are situated just off the coast. Other beaches in the neighbourhood are Praia Barril (Pedras del Rei, at 8kms distance) and the beach of Ilha de Faro (at 27 kms). At the western side of Faro you’ll find the beaches that are famous for their rock formations, like Praia da Rocha near Portimão or Praia Falesia.
The Ria Formosa nature reserve is an area where numerous birds stay over the winter period. You can regularly see flamingos there, as well as black-winged stilts, common spoonbills and various heron species. Other ideas for day trips in the Algarve are the cities of: Albufeira, Monchique, Lagos and Sagres. A trip to Spain is also possible; the beautiful city of Seville is only a 2 hours’ drive and the Spanish border is less than 50kms away.
Possible activities close by are playing golf, horse riding, walking and cycling. The beaches are a great place for various water sports (canoeing, kite surfing, etc). The closest shopping centres are in Tavira and Olhão (both 9kms away). In Fuseta you find the nearest supermarket. The Forum Algarve in Faro is also a well-known shopping centre. Furthermore, every week there are local markets. Want more information about what to do in the Algarve? Visit Enjoy the Algarve, a free online magazine about this region.
